JAL JEEVAN MISSION 

Jal Jeevan Mission is envisioned to provide safe and adequate water through individual household tap connections to all households (100% coverage) in rural India by 2024 with a minimum of 55 LPCD service levels.RWS&S dept. AP and VCF have entered into a partnership, dated 26th Jul’21 for providing Technical support to JJM at the state level as PMU and also to play as an Implementing Support Agency (ISA) in two districts ( NTR and Anakapalle) for providing FHTC across 106 villages by the development of village piped water supply infrastructure to ensure the provision of 55 LPCD.

Key objectives

  •  To provide functional tap connection to every rural household, schools, Anganwadi centres, GP buildings, health centres, wellness centres and community buildings.
  • To empower and develop human resource in the sector to meet the demands of construction, plumbing, electrical, water quality management, water treatment, catchment protection, operations and maintenance, etc., to ensure everything is taken care of in short and long term.
  •  To bring awareness to the people in the rural areas about safe drinking water, and the part stakeholders play in ensuring that it is carried out.
  • To promote and ensure voluntary ownership among local communities by way of contribution in cash, kind and/or labour and voluntary labour. To assist in ensuring sustainability of water supply system, that is, water source, water supply infrastructure, and funds for regular operations and maintenance.

 

Drinking Water Project -, VCF intends to address the community (i.e., that section of people who currently do not have access to safe and purified drinking water at affordable prices) by setting up Water Treatment Plants in backward, high salinity and water-stressed areas. Subsequently, these systems can be utilized for providing safe drinking water to the affected areas on a self-sustainable basis. The project’s model includes user charges for the supply of treated water to the community, thereby recovering operation and maintenance costs for running the plants.

Objectives of the Intervention

  1. To transfer the operations and maintenance of water plants to the Village water sanitation committee on a self-sustainable basis.
  2. VCF to provide Handhold and technical support to the VWSCs for running the community water plants for a period of 6 months after the handover of the water plant.
  3. VCF to build the capacity of VWSCs to independently operate and maintain the community water plant on a self-sustainable basis.

Menstrual Hygiene Management in Andhra Pradesh

Project  Statement: A solution across the MHM value chain (Awareness, Access, Hygienic Use & Menstrual Waste Management) to promote the goal of safe and effective Menstrual Hygiene Management in 50 villages, covering 10,000 adolescent girls and women in 2 years.

Objectives: The  objectives of this project are as follows:

  • Awareness, information and confidence to manage menstruation with safety, dignity and manage menstruation hygienically.
  • To establish effective, low-cost entrepreneurship models of menstrual absorbent materials by engaging rural youths/SHGs for rural women and girls.
  • Safe Disposal of used sanitary absorbents with privacy and dignity.
  • Awareness on UTI /RTI related symptoms.

Project Outreach : The program aims to cover three mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju District and NTR districts. It will benefit 10,000 adolescent girls and women of menstrual age (14-45 Years) from communities. The project also covers Adolescent Girls and adolescent boys from schools in intervention villages.
